A small seaside village on the coast of Suffolk, Thorpeness blossomed in the early 20th century into an exclusive resort, and it retains its resort nature to this day - with some estimates saying that the village's permanent population of 400 rises to 1600 during the summer holidays. Pin Mill Sailing Club has run an annual Barge Match since 1962, and regattas since 1883, for much of that time (including presently) on an annual basis.
