As commanding officer of No. 19 Squadron RAF, based at RAF Duxford, Stephenson flew as part of the air cover that protected the Dunkirk Evacuation. During the fighting, Stephenson was shot down and force-landed on the beach at Sangatte before being captured by the Germans. He spent the rest of the war as a prisoner, including time at Colditz Castle, where he helped build the famous 'Colditz Cock' escape glider. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAfter the war, Stephenson rose to the rank of Air Commodore and served as personal pilot to King George VI and later Queen Elizabeth II, before being killed in a crash while testing the North American F-100 Super Sabre in 1954.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eOriginal 78mm x 54mm metal fridge magnet, 2.5mm deep, and 1mm thick magnet sheet insert.
