Dovercourt Lighthouses, Essex Greeting Card
Buy any 3 cards to receive free postage
High quality greeting card of Dovercourt, a seaside town on the Essex coast, contiguous with the town of Harwich. Dovercourt is a popular day trip destination, with a lovely beach providing impressive views of container ships passing by in the distance, heading to and from Harwich International Port. Dovercourt is home to a range of cafés, a boating lake, and a holiday park.
Depicted in this illustration are the Dovercourt Lighthouses, a pair of screw-pile lighthouses built in the 1860s, and used through to 1917 to guide vessels into Harwich. The Dovercourt Lighthouses fell into disuse for decades, before being designated as scheduled monuments in 1975, and restored between 1985 and 1988. Today, the two lighthouses are an iconic part of Dovercourt's coastal identity.
