Tollesbury, Essex Giclée Travel Poster
Giclée travel poster of Tollesbury, Essex, depicting the iconic Sail Lofts. Tollesbury has long been nicknamed 'the village of the plough and sail', a reference to the village's traditional farming, and to its oyster industry which flourished throughout the nineteenth century. The Sail Lofts themselves once played a part in the oyster industry, with the upper floors used by local fishermen, while the lower floors were used to store pleasure yachts.
Today, the Sail Lofts are home to 'the Loft - Tea by the Sea', a popular local tearoom. Tollesbury itself still has an oyster industry, and is popular with walkers from across Essex due to its location on Tollesbury Wick, with quick access to wonderful walking routes along the River Blackwater.
