Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, is a quiet riverfront town sitting on the north bank of the River Crouch. Burnham sits in a somewhat secluded corner of Essex - the Dengie peninsula, bounded north and south by the River Blackwater and the River Crouch, respectively. It should come as no surprise, therefore, that Burnham is known as a peaceful and well-regarded small town.
Burnham is perhaps best known, however, as a centre for yachting, and has been for almost a century. The iconic Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, designed by Joseph Emberton and built in 1931, is a Grade II* listed building - you can see it on the right-hand side of this illustration. Burnham's yachting culture is celebrated with 'Burnham Week', an annual regatta which has been held since 1893.
This Essex illustration by artist Rob Wisdom is a weatherproof PVC scuff-proof posters as currently featured in stations throughout Essex and South Suffolk.
