The Chevrolet Corvette - or Vette - is one of the most iconic sports cars in automotive history, in production from 1953 to the present day. The third generation Corvette - sometimes referred to as the C3 - ran from 1967 to 1982. This illustration depicts the 1978 Corvette Stingray used as the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race (commonly referred to as Indy 500), the first Corvette to be used as a pace car at the famous long-distance automobile race.
