High quality Christmas card of Clacton-on-Sea in Tendring, Essex. The largest town on the Tendring peninsula's 'Sunshine Coast', Clacton is a popular seaside resort known for its pleasure pier, arcades, and sandy beaches. Just outside of Clacton itself one can find Holland-on-Sea and its beaches to the east, or Jaywick and its 18th century Martello tower to the west.
Depicted in this illustration is a view of Clacton Pier, which has been the town's most popular attraction since the late 1800s. The pier is home to a variety of rides, arcades, and entertainments, and was named 'Pier of the Year 2020' by the National Piers Society.
