High quality Christmas art print of Colchester Castle, an 11th century Norman castle in Colchester, Essex. Located in the centre of Colchester, the castle boasts an impressive museum, and is at the heart of Castle Park, a Grade II listed Victorian park.

Colchester Castle was built shortly after the Norman Conquest, using the ruins of the Roman-era Temple of Claudius as its foundation. The largest medieval keep in Europe, Colchester Castle was built to the same design as the Tower of London, enlarged to use the entirety of its Roman foundations. Throughout the years, Colchester Castle was besieged by King John in 1216, was the headquarters of Witchfinder General Matthew Hopkins, was the site of the execution of Royalist generals Sir Charles Lucas and Sir George Lisle, and was partially demolished in the 17th century. In 1815, a sycamore tree was planted atop the castle to celebrate the Battle of Waterloo.

Colchester Castle Park - divided by the old Roman wall into the Upper Park and Lower Park - spans 11 hectares, stretching across the River Colne. It is also home to Hollytrees Museum, a museum situated in an 18th century Manor House. Colchester Natural History Museum sits just outside Castle Park, with Firstsite art gallery nearby. Just up the hill from Castle Park is the town centre, featuring such landmarks as Colchester Town Hall and 'Jumbo', a Victorian water tower.
