Dunfermline Upper Railway Station Giclée Art Print
High-quality art print of the former Dunfermline Upper railway station, which was on the Stirling and Dunfermline Railway, a branch line on the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway. The railway was authorised in 1846 - conconted by the Edinburgh and Glasgow Railway in order to capitalise on Dunfermline's coal industry - and the first section, running from Dunfermline to Oakley, opened in December 1849. The line was completed in 1852, and would run until 1968, by which point its traffic had been significantly reduced by competition from road transport.
Dufermline Upper was originally known simply as Dunfermline, until the opening of another station in the town saw it take the name Dunfermline Upper. The other Dunfermline station, opened as Dunfermline Lower, is now known as Dunfermline Town, and is the town's main railway station to this day.
This illustration by Rob Wisdom is a high-quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.
