Ford Escort MkI (1970 London to Mexico Rally) Giclée Art Print
The European Ford Escort, best known as a classic family car, also has a long track record in motorsport events such as motor rallying. This illustration depicts a Ford Escort MkI competing in the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup rally. More than a hundred cars competed in event, racing 16,000 miles across three continents. The Ford team used modified Escort MkIs with 1850 cc Ford Kent engines, and they performed well - the winning drivers, 'Flying Finn' Hannu Mikkola and Gunnar Palm, drove an Escort MkI, as did third-place finishers Rauno Aaltonen and Henry Liddon. Famously, Tottenham Hotspur and England footballer Jimmy Greaves also competed in the race, finishing sixth in a Ford Escort MkI.
This illustration by Rob Wisdom is a high quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.
