Ford Escort MkI RS1600 (1972 East African Safari) Giclée Art Print
The European Ford Escort, best known as a classic family car, also has a long track record in motorsport events such as motor rallying. This illustration depicts a Ford Escort MkI RS1600 competing in the 1972 East African Safari. Widely considered to be the most difficult rally in the WRC championship lineup, the East African Safari ran for decades under several names, including the East African Coronation Safari 1953, and the Safari Rally from 1974 onwards. 1972's winning drivers, 'Flying Finn' Hannu Mikkola and Gunnar Palm, drove a Ford Escort MkI RS1600 to victory, following up on their success in the 1970 London to Mexico Rally.
This illustration by Rob Wisdom is a high quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.
