High-quality art print of Goldhanger, a pretty little village in the District of Maldon, Essex. There are some beautiful walks around Goldhanger with miles of sea wall to enjoy stretching along the Blackwater Estuary as far as Maldon on one side and Tollesbury and beyond on the other. St Peter's Church which is in the heart of the village, dates back to the 11th century and  features in our illustration along with the Chequers Inn pub. The church's tower is home to 8 bells. There are only eight roads in Goldhanger: Head Street, Fish Street, Church Street, St Peter's Close, Maldon Road, Hall Estate, Sorrell Close, and finally Blind Lane.

The village is close to Tolleshunt D'Arcy and also has direct passage to the River Blackwater. It is said in the Domesday Book of 1086 that Goldhanger's name (Goldhangra) means 'slope where marigold grew', from the Old English golde meaning marigold.

This Essex illustration by artist Tom Wisdom is a high-quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper. For our Goldhanger travel poster, click here.
