Great Dunmow, Essex Giclée Art Print
High quality art print of the historic market town of Great Dunmow (sometimes shortened to Gt Dunmow) in Uttlesford, Essex - located between Braintree and Bishop's Stortford. A thriving small town with a history stretching back to Roman times, Great Dunmow's high street is almost unique in that it is home only to independent local businesses. Depicted in this illustration is Doctor's Pond, a popular spot in the town.
Great Dunmow is also known for the 'Flitch Trials', a local custom dating back at least as far as the 14th century, when Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales. Once every four years, a married couple must convince a jury of unmarried men and women that they have never regretted their marriage; if successful, they are awarded a flitch of bacon.
12x16" print shown. Cropping and title position (if applicable) may differ slightly on 'A' size prints.
