Giclée travel poster of Halstead, Essex. Halstead sits on the River Colne in the Colne Valley, a few miles to the north of Braintree, and has a long history as a traditional market town - to this day, the town is known for its Friday markets, and for the wide variety of independent shops that can be found there.

Depicted in this Halstead illustration is a view from Market Hill in the centre of Halstead. In the foreground is the Jubilee Drinking Fountain, which was designed by leading Victorian architect Leonard Shuffrey to commemorate Queen Victoria's golden jubilee in 188. Beyond the fountain is St Andrew's Church, which was built sometime in the 14th century, replacing an earlier building on the same site. The church tower, however, was a later addition, not being built until 1850.
