Harwich is a town in Tendring, Essex. One of the Haven ports on East Anglia's North Sea coast, Harwich has long been one of England's busiest ports. Harwich launched the Mayflower in 1620, built HMS Conqueror which captured Admiral Villeneuve at the Battle of Trafalgar, and took the surrender of Germany's U-boat fleet in 1918. Today, Harwich is home to Harwich International Port, formerly known as Parkeston Quay. Harwich International Port is one of the United Kingdom's leading ports, and is connected to London via Manningtree by the Mayflower Line.

Depicted in this illustration is a view of Harwich Quay, where the River Stour joins the River Orwell. The foreground is shared by 'Halfpenny Pier' (or Ha'penny Pier') - one of only a handful of working wooden piers in the country - and LV18, Harwich's iconic lightship - once used to protect shipping, now a museum. In the midground, you can see local hotel The Pier, while the spire of St Nicholas' Church rises in the background.

This Essex illustration by artist Rob Wisdom is a weatherproof PVC scuff-proof posters as currently featured in stations throughout Essex and South Suffolk.
