High quality art print of the Airspeed AS.51 Horsa, a British troop-carrying glider primarily operated during the Second World War. Over 3,600 Horsa gliders were produced, and were operated by several allied armies and air forces.
The Horsa's first large-scale deployment was Operation Husky, the Allied invasion of Sicily; 27 Horsas flying from North Africa delivered paratroopers to the island. The Horsa is best known, however, for its role in the D-Day Invasion (with more than 250 Horsas delivering British and American paratroopers to Normandy) and in Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands.
This illustration by Rob Wisdom is a high-quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.
