High-quality Giclée art print recreating a nostalgic poster of the past. This poster promoted Black Sabbath, Mott the Hoople, and Hawkind at the Kursaal Ballroom in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, at three dates in late 1975.
Black Sabbath were in 1975 touring for their sixth studio album, Sabotage. While Sabotage's only single, Am I Going Insane, failed to chart, other tracks from the album such as Hoel in the Sky and Symptom of the Universe proved fan favourites. The iconic Ozzy Osbourne was on lead vocals, with bandmates including Tony Iommi, Geezer butler, and Bill Ward providing the instruments.
Hawkwind were touring for their sixth studio album, Warrior on the Edge of Time, a collaboration with pulp fantasy author Michael Moorcock, who wrote many of the lyrics. The band's lineup throughout the years was turbulent, but we suspect on the night it was Dave Brock, Nik Turner, Simon House, Simon King, Alan Powell, and Paul Rudolph. The touring lineup certainly differed from the recording lineup: Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister, was sacked after being caught bringing meth across the Canadian border, and Paul Rudolph was brought in to replace him for the tour.
Supertramp were entering their prime at the time. Their third studio album, Crime of the Century (1974) had proven their breakthrough hit, thanks to songs such as "Dreamer" and "Bloody Well Right". Their fourth album, Crisis? What Crisis? followed in November 1975, and it was songs from this new album that would dominate their setlist at the Kursaal. Supertramp's classic lineup consisted of Rick Davies, Roger Hodgson, Dougie Thimpson, Bob Siebenberg, and John Helliwell.
