Lotus 72 Giclée Art Print

Premium Giclée art print of the Lotus 72, winner of the 1970, 1972, and 1973 Formula One Constructors' Champions. Designed by Colin Chapman and Maurice Philippe, the Lotus 72 is one of the most influential cars in Formula One history - and helped to redefine the look of Formula One cars forever, with its low, wide nose and its side-mounted radiators. Debuting at the 1970 Spanish Grand Prix, the Lotus 72 would go on to win 20 of the 75 races it entered over the course of six Formula One seasons. Delivering three of Norfolk-based Team Lotus' seven Constructors' Championships, it was undoubtedly one of their greatest achievements of racecar design and engineering.

Two drivers would win Drivers' Championships in the Lotus 72. Jochen Rindt won the 1970 Formula One Drivers' Championship, though sadly he became the first and only posthumous champion after a fatal crash mid-season. Two years later, Emerson Fittipaldi became the youngest Formula One champion of all time by winning the 1972 Drivers' Championship - a record he held for 33 years. It is Fittipaldi's 1972 car that is depicted in this illustration, with its iconic black-and-gold livery and John Player Special (JPS) advertising.
