High quality greeting card of Mistley, a village in the Tendring district of Essex. Located north of Colchester and almost continuous with neighbouring Manningtree, Mistley was known as Mistleythorn until the 18th century, when developer Robert Adam began the town's transformation.
Depicted in this illustration is a view of Mistley Towers, the village's best-known landmark. Built as part of a neoclassical church in the late 18th century, the towers now stand alone, with the nave of the church having been demolished in around 1870. The towers are now grade I listed.
