High quality greeting card of the curiously-named Monkey Beach on Mersea Island, Essex. This may derive its name to an old coastguard lookout - the sight of which reminded locals of a monkey in a cage. That, though, is just a theory; the true reason may now be lost in the sands of time. Wherever its name comes from, Monkey Beach is an isolated slice of idyllic beach, looking out across the water towards Bradwell-on-Sea.
