This original illustration depicts Ongar railway station, Essex, in a style reminiscient of classic railway posters. Originally opened in 1865 by the Great Eastern Railway, Ongar station was the terminus of the Epping-Ongar branch line, splitting off from what would become the London Underground's central line at Epping; during this time, Ongar station gained some fame as the easternmost point of the London Underground, from which distances were officially measured. The line was closed in 1994, but reopened as a heritage railway from 2004 and 2007, and again in 2012 after restoration.

Chipping Ongar itself is a small market town in the Epping Forest district of Essex. Traces of the town's medieval history can still be seen, in the earthworks of what was once Ongar Castle, and in some aspects of the local church. More recently, Chipping Ongar is likely where Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star was written, and played host to RAF Chipping Ongar (also known as RAF Willingale) during the Second World War.

This Essex illustration by artist Rob Wisdom is a high-quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.

12x16" print shown. Cropping and title position (if applicable) may differ slightly on 'A' size prints.
