High-quality Giclée art print recreating a nostalgic poster of the past. This poster promoted synth-pop duo Yazoo at Raquels, Basildon, Essex, on 30th August 1982.
Yazoo (known as Yaz in North America) was a duo consisting of Vince Clarke (formerly of Depeche Mode) and Alison Moyet. The duo both grew up in Basildon, even attending the same music school briefly, but didn't meet until 1981, when Clarke - newly unattached after quitting Depeche Mode - was looking for a singer to work with on his newly-written song "Only You." The decision to work together proved providential; "Only You" peaked at number 2 on the UK singles chart after it's release in March 1982.
The two worked together for two albums, Upstairs at Eric's (1982) and You and Me Both (1982) before splitting. Moyet went on to have a successful solo career, with hits like "Love Resurrection" and "Is This Love?". Clarke released "Never Never" with Eric Radcliffe under the name The Assembly, then went on to form Erasure with Andy Bell, releasing hits including "Sometimes," "Stop!," and "Blue Savannah."
