Original art print of Shingle Street in East Suffolk, which sits on the coast opposite Orford Ness, where the River Alde meets the North Sea. Originally a home for fishermen and river pilots, Shingle Street is one of Suffolk's smallest settlements, home to just a handful of houses. On the shingle beach can be found one of Britain's largest extents of coastal vegetated shingle, a rare and protected habitat.
Prominent in this illustration is the Shingle Street Shell Line, a line of white shells running along the beach. This was first created by Lida Cardozo Kindersley and Els Bottema in 2005, as they sought as shared activity to help them cope with their cancer treatment. The shell line is made up of as many as 20,000 shells, and stretches for almost 300 metres. Others have added to the line over the years, many in tribute to loved ones of their own.
This Suffolk illustration by artist Rob Wisdom is a high-quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.
12x16" art print shown. Cropping and title position (if applicable) may differ slightly on 'A' size art prints.
