High-quality art print of Shoeburyness, Essex, featuring the Heavy Quick Fire Battery in Gunners Park. Built from 1898 to 1900, the Heavy Quick Firing Battery was a key part of Britain's maritime defences, housing four anti-shipping guns with which to protect the Thames Estuary. The most impressive among the many structures built in the 19th and 20th centuries as part of Shoebury Garrison, today the Heavy Quick Firing Battery is a historical landmark, surrounded by the Gunners Park and Shoebury Ranges Nature Reserve.

Shoeburyness itself - or Shoebury, as it is often shortened to - is today part of the City of Southend-on-Sea, and has been for almost a century. Some of the town's military history continues to this day, with MoD Shoeburyness still used for testing and training purposes. For the most part, though, Shoeburyness has embraced its new suburban identity, connected to Southend itself by the London, Tilbury and Southend line, by road, and by a cycle path along the seafront.

This Essex illustration by artist Rob Wisdom is a high-quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.

12x16" print shown. Cropping and title position (if applicable) may differ slightly on 'A' size prints.
