Shoeburyness, Essex Giclée Travel Poster
Giclée travel poster of Shoeburyness (or simply Shoebury), a suburb in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. Located to the very east of Southend, Shoeburyness borders Thorpe Bay to the west, with the coast sweeping up to the east. Like much of Southend, Shoebury is known for its beautiful views out over the Thames Estuary.
Depicted in this illustration is a view from Gunners Park (more formally known as Gunners Park and Shoebury Ranges), a 25-hectare park which occupies land that was previously a part of MoD Shoeburyness. Shown are the walls of the former Heavy Quick Firing Battery, built as a gunnery position in 1898 in order to protect the Thames Estuary from enemy ships.
