The Shuttleworth Collection, based at Old Warden Airfield in Bedfordshire, features historic aircraft (1909 - 1950s, many the last remaining airworthy examples of their types), automobiles, heritage agricultural and steam exhibits, and other forms of transport. The Collection was founded by Richard Ormonde Shuttleworth in 1928 and is today maintained by a small team of full-time staff as well as a large supporting volunteer body. Highlights of the Collection depicted here are the 1941 Hawker Sea Hurricane Ib, with the de Havilland DH.88 Comet in the distance, and the 1934 Railton Eight Sports car. Looking on with pride is Richard Shuttleworth in his Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve pilot’s uniform, and his faithful dog Tipper, in the grounds of his family home, Shuttleworth House.
