Southend-on-Sea, Essex (Platform Poster)

Southend-on-Sea is the largest city in Essex. Depicted in this illustration is a view of Southend's waterfront, looking out over the observation tower, Adventure Island theme park - Southend's premier theme park since 1976 - and Southend Pier. Southend Pier is the city's most famous landmark, being the world's longest pleasure pier - clocking in at 1.33 miles long.

Southend-on-Sea itself is today a flourishing new city, having been granted city status in 2022. It is home to London Southend Airport, and to a population of more than 180,000 people. In addition to this, it is a popular visitor destination for people from across Essex and London, as it has been for centuries now.
