Stow Maries, Essex Giclée Travel Poster
The village of Stow Maries, Essex sits south-east of Chelmsford, near South Woodham Ferrers. It is roughly 13 miles from the North Sea 'as the crow flies' across the Dengie Peninsula. The village is home to a public house, the 14th-century Church of St Mary and St Margaret, a village hall, a golf and country club, and a former Royal Flying Corps aerodrome, which was used through the second half of the Great War (or First World War). Illustrated here is a BE2e biplane, envisioned during its war service (1916-1919) role of protecting London and Essex from German Zeppelin and Gotha bombing raids. Also of interest is the site of the former LNER Stow St Marys Halt - today a nature reserve managed by Essex Wildlife Trust.
This Essex illustration by artist Rob Wisdom is a high-quality Giclée travel poster on cotton-rich fine art paper. We also offer a Stow Maries Art Print.
12x16" print shown. Cropping and title position (if applicable) may differ slightly on 'A' size prints.
