Thaxted, Essex Giclée Travel Poster
Giclée travel poster of Thaxted, Essex. Located in the Uttlesford district, in the Chelmer Valley, Thaxted is a historic town that flourished in the medieval period - leaving it with a charming historical character even to this day. Depicted in this illustration is a view down Mill End, looking towards Thaxted Guildhall on Town St, and beyond to Thaxted Parish Church.
Many of Thaxted's major landmarks were testaments to the town's flourishing medieval cutlery industry. Thaxted Guildhall - seen in the foreground of this illustration - was built in the fifteneeth century for the Guild of Cutlers, for instance, and to this day is an iconic sight in Thaxted, with its 'Tudor style' timber framing. Thaxted Parish Church - in the background of this artwork - is older still, with construction having starting as far back as 1340, and is one of England's largest churches. The church follows in the 'English Pependicular' style of architecture.
