Tiptree, Essex

Original art print of Tiptree, Essex, depicting a view of Factory Hill, near the junction with Chapel Road at the War Memorial. Factory Hill takes its name from the Wilkin and Sons jam factory that is based in the village, and which can be seen beyond the recently-restored iconic factory gates in this illustration.

Tiptree is a village in the City of Colchester (formerly known as Colchester Borough). The village was primarily a rural area for most of its history, split across neighbouring parishes, and only became its own parish in 1934. Since then the village has continued to grow, and with a population of almost 10,000 is one of England's largest villages.
