High-quality art print of the historic railway station at Tolleshunt Knights, which was on the Kelvedon and Tollesbury Light Railway, affectionately known by locals as the 'Crab and Winkle Line'. At its height, The Great Eastern Railway (GER) / London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) line ran between Kelvedon Low Level and Tollesbury Pier.
The line opened in 1904, and after 41 years of operation, closed to train passengers in 1951. Even in its heyday, the station was rudimentary, consisting of little more than a short platform, a sign, and a retired railway carriage that served as a waiting room; in other words, full of the rustic charm that characterised Edwardian-era light railways lines. Very few traces remain today of the station, though the nearby railway bridge still stands.
This Essex illustration by artist Rob Wisdom is a high-quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.
12x16" art print shown. Cropping and title position (if applicable) may differ slightly on 'A' size art prints.
