The Volkswagen Type 1 - more commonly known as the VW Beetle or Bug - is a classic economy car that was produced by German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen from 1938 until 2003. The Beetle is one of the most successful and influential cars in automotive history, with more than 21,000,000 units produced. This illustration depicts a 1951 Volkswagen Beetle 2-door saloon, one of the last models of Beetle to feature the distinctive 'split oval' rear window design.
