High quality art print of a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, an American fighter aircraft known for its role in World War Two, in which it was operated by the United States Army Air Force and Royal Air Force, among others. Known for its 'shark mouth' nose art, the Warhawk - known as the Tomahawk in Commonwealth and Soviet service - lacked the performance to compete with Luftwaffe fighters, however saw widespread use outside of Western Europe.
The P-40 Warhawk was the USAAF's main fighter aircraft in the Pacific, despite crippling losses during the surprise attack on Pearl Harbour. It competed well against the likes of the Japanese Zero, being faster and equally manoeuvrable at high altitudes. For the RAF, the Mustang was primarily used in North Africa, replacing the Hawker Hurricane until 'topicalised' Spitfires were available for deployment to those conditions.
This illustration depicts P-40 Warhawk 113521.
This illustration by Rob Wisdom is a high-quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.
