Wivenhoe, Essex (Christmas) Giclée Art Print
High quality winter art print of Wivenhoe, a town in the Borough of Colchester, Essex. Wivenhoe's history stretches back at least as far as the Domesday Book in 1086, and was for centuries the main port serving Colchester, sitting 3 miles south-east of the larger town at the estuary of the River Colne. Today, Wivenhoe is a thriving small town, known for its picturesque views, surrounding wildlife reserves - including the Wivenhoe Woods, Wivenhoe Marshes, and nearby Fingringhoe Wick nature reserve - and proximity to the University of Essex.
Depicted in this illustration is the view of the Quay across the River Colne. Once serving as Colchester's main port, the Quay is now known for its pleasure craft and boats; Wivenhoe Sailing Club is based just down the river from the Quay. Popular local pub the Rose and Crown can be seen in this illustration, as can St Mary's church, which dates back to the 14th century, making it the oldest building in Wivenhoe.
This Wivenhoe illustration by Essex artist Rob Wisdom is a high quality Christmas art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.
