Giclée travel posters of Wivenhoe, in a style inspired by the railway posters of old. Wivenhoe's recored history begins with the Domesday Book in 1086, and for centuries the town was the main port serving Colchester, which is just a few miles further up the River Colne. These days, Wivenhoe is a thriving town, known across Essex for its picturesque views, sailing shipsm, and artistic community.
This illustration depicts a view of Wivenhoe Quay from the south bank of the River Colne. Once Colchester's main port, now the Quay is oft-visisted by pleasure craft and boats; jsut down the river from here, one can find Wivenhoe Sailing Club. Local pub the Rose and Crown can be seen in this illustration, as can Wivenhoe's oldest building, the 14th-century St. Mary's Church.
