RAF Binbrook Giclée Art Print
Couldn't load pickup availability
Original illustration of RAF Binbrook, a Royal Air Force station near the village of Binbrook in Lincolnshire. Opened in 1940, RAF Binbrook initially hosted a number of Bomber Command squadrons through the Second World War and into the Cold War era. Later the base hosted No. 5 Squadron and No. 11 Squadron - both flying the English Electric Lightning fighter jet - until 1988, when the squadrons re-equipped with the Panavia Tornado and moved elsewhere. RAF Binbrook was closed shortly afterwards.
The star of this illustration is an English Electric Lightning F.6. The Lightning was a supersonic jet interceptor, designed to protect RAF airfields from Soviet bombers. Built around two jet engines, one on top of the other, the Lightning had exceptional speed and climb rate, but limited range. It was in service with the RAF from 1960 to 1988.
This RAF Binbrook art print is available with the English Electric Lightning depicted in the markings of No. 11 Squadron RAF, or in the markings of No. 5 Squadron RAF.
This aviation illustration by artist Rob Wisdom is a high-quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.
