Birch, Essex Giclée Travel Poster
Premium travel poster of the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Birch, Essex. Nestled in the Essex countryside near Colchester, close to Abberton Reservoir, Birch Church - as it is most commonly known - is a beloved landmark in the idyllic landscape, with its spire rising 110 feet into the sky. Designed by prolific architect Samuel Sanders Teulon, Birch Church opened in 1850, and was an active Church of England church for over a century before being closed in 1990.
Since its closure in 1990, Birch Church has been threatend with demolition, which has been passionately opposed, both by local residents, and by activists from across Essex, such as the SOS Save Our Spire group, who have been in talks with the Diocese of Chelmsford who own the church. If you believe, as we do, that Birch Church and its iconic spire ought to be preserved, sign the petition here.
