High quality greeting card of Bocking Windmill - more formally known as Bocking Churchstreet Windmill - in Essex. Built in 1830, Bocking Windmill operated through to around 1930; the last miller was Henry Hawkins, commemorated in this illustration. A classic post mill, Bocking Windmill is now a grade I listed building, having been restored in the 1960s - in large part thanks to a donation from Tottenham Hotspur chairman F. J. Bearman. Today, the windmill is looked after by the Friends of Bocking Windmill.
Bocking itself is an area on the outskirts of Braintree, Essex, sitting near the confluence of the River Pant and River Blackwater. Part of Braintree district, the village gives its name to the Bocking Blackwater, Bocking North, and Bocking South wards.
This Bocking and Braintree illustration by Essex artist Rob Wisdom is a high-quality greeting card. For our Giclée art print of Bocking Windmill, click here.
