High-quality art print of the Chapel of St Peter-on-the-Wall in Bradwell-on-Sea, on Essex's Dengie peninsula. The oldest church in England, St Peter-on-the-Wall was reputedly built by St Cedd in 654 AD, atop the site of a disused Roman fort. The chapel remained in operation for almost a thousand years, before being converted to a barn - however, it is now once again a functioning church, having been restored and reconsecrated in 1920.

The village of Bradwell-on-Sea itself is similarly ancient, occupying the site of a Roman fort known originally as Othona, and later as Ithancester. During the Second World War, the Royal Air Force (and No. 488 Squadron of the RNZAF) operated from nearby RAF Bradwell Bay. Today, Bradwell-on-Sea is perhaps best known for Bradwell nuclear power station, which operated from 1962 to 2002.

This Essex illustration by artist Tom Wisdom is a high quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper. Click here for our Bradwell-on-Sea travel poster.
