Surrounded by farmland and by Fingringhoe Wick Nature Discovery Park, Fingringhoe is a peaceful and idyllic village, in a style characteristic of Essex.

Depicted in this illustration is a view of Fingringhoe's pub, the Whalebone, which sits at the intersection of Chapel Road and Fingringhoe Road. Beyond the Whalebone pub, one can see the tower of St. Andrew's Church, which has occupied that site since the 12th century.
