Original illustration of the LFG Roland C.II "Walfisch," a German biplane used as a scout plane and fighter escort by the Luftstreitkräfte during the First World War. The Walfisch - introduced in 1916 - was one of the earliest monocoque aircraft, rather than the then-typical frame-based design. Upon introduction it was among the fastest aircraft around, which helped it evade Allied fighters. It was operated through to the end of the war.
This aviation illustration by artist Ken Wisdom is a high quality Giclée art print on cotton-rich fine art paper.
