Merlins Over Malta Giclée Travel Poster

Commemorative 20th anniversary illustration celebrating the 2005 'Merlins Over Malta' project. During the Second World War, Malta was subjected to a brutal bombing campaign by the Axis, with Hawker Hurricanes and Supermarine Spitfires among the Allied aircraft flown in its defence. In September 2005, the Merlins Over Malta project flew a Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane - piloted by Clive Denney and Charlie Brown - over Malta's Grand Harbour, as part of Malta's celebrations on the sixtieth anniversary of the end of the war. This was the first time either of the aircraft had been seen above the island since 1952.
