High-quality greeting card of the Moot Hall, on the High Street in Maldon, Essex. Dating back as far as the 15th century, the Moot Hall was once a townhouse, but by 1576 had come into the hands of Maldon Borough Council, who over the years have used the building as a prison, police station, court house, armoury, and even as their headquarters for a time. During that time, many additions were made, including the projecting clock, donated to the town by George Courtauld MP in 1881. Since 1974, however, the building has become an event space, available for tours, exhibitions, and even weddings.

Maldon itself is a flourishing town with a rich history, first coming to prominence in the 10th century as the site of the Battle of Maldon - commemorated today by a statute of Byrthnoth, who led the defence, on the quay. More recently, Maldon has become famous as the home of Maldon Sea Salt, which is enjoyed across the world, and as one of Essex's most beautiful small towns.

This Maldon illustration by Essex artist Rob Wisdom is a high-quality greeting card. For our Giclée art print of Maldon Moot Hall, click here. We also offer cards and art prints depicting a view of the Hythe, Maldon.
