Original illustration of a Short Type 184 torpedo bomber, as used by the Royal Naval Air Service and Royal Flying Corps during the First World War. During the Gallipoli campaign, a Short 184 (piloted by Flt Commander Charles Edmonds) became the first aircraft to sink a ship with a torpedo. The Short 184 remained in British service into the early 1920s, and abroad - in Chile and Estonia - until 1933.
