Original travel poster of RAF Thorpe Abbotts in Norfolk, imagined as it would have appeared during its use by the Eighth Air Force of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) during the Second World War. A number of B-17 Flying Fortress squadrons of the 100th Bombardment Group ("Bloody Hundredth") were based at the airfield from June 1943 to December 1945, taking part in the combined bomber offensive against Germany. Their efforts were the inspiration for the 2024 drama 'Masters of the Air'. One detail the show runners omitted, however, was the group's mascot - the cigarette-eating donkey 'Moe', who can be seen in our illustration.

Today, the site is home to the 100th Bomb Group Memorial Museum, a free-to-enter museum which opens from March to October every year. The museum is centred on the original control tower, which still stands to this day.
