High quality greeting card of Messing Maypole Mill, a grade II listed windmill in Tiptree, Essex. Built in 1775 by local millwright John Mathett, 'Tiptree Windmill' would go on to become an iconic part of the north Essex village.
Tiptree Windmill is depicted here in its heyday, featuring its original sails and the late 19th-century fantail. The sails were removed in 1927, though milling by steam and electrical power would continue on-site until 1962. The windmill still stands to this day, having been converted into a private residence in 1969.
