Premium Giclée travel poster of East Walk, Basildon, Essex, depicting the centre of the town with its distinctive tower, contemporary shopfronts, and the Vue Cinema in East Square. The view shows the pedestrian precinct on a clear day, with shoppers, greenery, and seating areas softening the post-war landscape.

Basildon was named a New Town in 1949 to accommodate London’s overspill population, and its centre was designed with ambitious ideas in modern architecture and urban planning. The town soon established a character of its own, most notably giving rise to Depeche Mode and other trailblazing electronic bands that turned Basildon into a touchstone for the synth-pop sound of the 1980s.
